It’s been a while since I’ve done an overall road map for OneBit Adventure as this year is packed more than ever before that I need to share what has been going on! We have the next big major update coming, Rogue Together is cooking, we’ve got a first sponsor for YouTube, and a lot of gaming conventions are planned for this year. This roadmap is very similar to the things talked about in the Discord voice chat event we recently had and feels like the best thing I’ve done so far to connect with the community! More so, its also a way for me to say that the game is still being worked on regardless of the status of Rogue Together, we have a lot of spaghetti code to fix and content that needs to come out for a better gaming experience. With that said, we shall talk about what’s next.
A* Pathfinding Coming to OneBit Adventure
Don’t you love your pet getting stuck behind obstacles? Me neither, which is why A* Pathfinding will help all enemies and pets be able to navigate the obstacles around them. The game doesn’t use this because most pathfinding scripts are too CPU heavy causing lag or expensive and bloated with tools I didn’t need for a 2d game. I decided to use the knowledge of ChatGPT (don’t hurt me D:) to create a base script of A* Pathfinding and worked on the rest so it works with OneBit Adventure. The results were nice allowing up to 100 enemies to utilize pathfinding with no delays. Expect certain enemies to use this feature more than others as pathfinding is called upon when the enemy aggro triggers, but pets and allies will use them all the time including the Bandit. Next Major Update Planned for Mid-May
The next major update is called Fork in the Road which also includes Discord’s Community Dungeon called the Corrupted Forest! This update is planned for mid-May so quite a bit of time so that I can create a lot of new features. Unfortunately, this also means no skins for the month of April. There is a lot going on and I can’t release any updates/hotfixes at this time as the code is deep into the major update. Take a look at some sneak peeks below.
Fork In The Road Feature
Crossroads(Fork in the road) is a new roguelike feature that is coming to OneBit Adventure in May’s update. This feature allows you to choose between two paths and depending on the path you choose it will either be high risk, high reward or low risk with low reward. Certain paths are persistent meaning all the buffs it applies will last throughout your current adventure. Another path type is temporary allowing you to only experience the effects until the next fork. Lastly, there is one-time path which means that effect will take place at the first chunk or the last one before the fork. Currently, paths are endless meaning that the path you take will be plentiful. While you can revisit older paths, eventually the Eternal Wraith will corrupt branches leaving you to decide whether it is safe to do so. This feature will be game changing as new players will get more opportunities to get more coins and experience, but also allows for veteran players to get that extra bit of challenge that they are always looking for.
Enchanted Forest Dungeon (Community Dungeon)
First, I want to thank the Discord community for gathering a lot of stuff needed for this dungeon. The Enchanted Forest is a foresight of what corruption lies ahead due to the Eternal Wraith. A new potion making mechanic will be introduced in this dungeon via a Witch NPC as well as experiencing the dark side of the Wraith. There will be a bit of lore to help ravel the mystery, but most of the lore will come in the future Story update.
New Character Card Skins
PollarGoal on Discord had an amazing idea which was a decorated card for your main menu character cards. This will be a new cosmetic added that currently will be unlocked by earning them. The main cards will be unlocked by prestige, but there are some being worked on for VIP skins. They will be basic until you level up the card by playing with the character card equipped. This is not going to be a gacha or lootbox feature. Future cards will be available for purchase via Diamonds. This feature will arrive in the May update as well!
2nd Tier Professions Delayed Again
I am going to hold off on 2nd tier professions for Archer and Thief. I want to focus more so on new player and veteran player experience as there is still crucial mechanics that need to be in the game to give OneBit the best appeal when it comes to discovering the game. Lack of tutorial, repetitive overworld, and overall purpose in the world of OneBit are some of the key ones. This major update will solve 2 of them and the future Story update will give you more purpose for your adventures going into the next topic.
More QOL Features
A way to organize your inventory, quick slots, and wardrobe are on the list of things to do, but I don’t expect them to arrive in the Fork in the Road update. Keybinds are also another feature I keep pushing aside, but I do hope to try to make that feature work again. There are a lot more minor things listed on Discord and I am doing my best to make note of what I can do while not delaying the big update. I do expect more bugs than ever as Fork in the Road is a game changing mechanic so I am carefully planning what other new features I can add, but do let me know any important quality of life features that are higher priority. Here are some that were mentioned to me through the last voice chat on Discord:
- Quick Slot Items staying locked after going to 0
- Reset ascension skills button
- Toggle for certain ascension skills
- Adding gold filter to the list
- Reforging 3 weapons in 1

Rogue Together Sign Ups
We’ve officially crossed the 100 mark for signups on Rogue Together’s newsletter. I want to thank you guys for help with spreading the word; however, we do need to reach 1000 sign ups as that is a solid goal for getting funded at $50,000 on Kickstarter. In case you aren’t aware, rogue together is the sequel to one bit adventure where you will be able to dungeon crawl with up to 4 friends with the same mechanics as OneBit. OneBit was built from the ground up as single player while Rogue Together will be built for multiplayer, but you can also play solo, offline or on mobile and PC. Currently, Jub is working on sprite assets for the trailer, but he has been quite busy so I do expect a bit longer than anticipated. We also want to make the trailer closer to the end result so that you know what exactly you are going to get when the Kickstarter launches. Sign up for the Rogue Together Newsletter so I know how many are interested in Kickstarting the game!
The Future is Bright
OneBit Adventure is going to be 7 years old by August. Not many games make it this long as a full-time indie developer so I thank all of you for sticking with me throughout the years in making this a long term project. It will continue to receive new updates throughout the year and the more feedback I get, the better it will continue to be. I have around 5 gaming conventions to go to this year to help spread the word on OneBit and Rogue Together also creating a OneBit Warrior cosplay. Although, 2nd tier professions are being delayed, it feels justified given the new content will be everlasting in making OneBit more fun for all players. My left hand still needs to get check as the doctor made me wait 3 months only to send me to another doctor which I need to wait 2 more months! I’m still able to code, but I am going to make sure not to overdo it this time. A lot of things cooking in the oven and I do want to achieve all the above for this year. I really think this is cool, but sometime can you create an update that adds more stuff for the lower levels??? All cool things go to people with the higher levels, as in professions.
Fork in the Road will be available for lower levels and should help with early game progression and the NPC will have more use for lower levels. Will see how the update goes and if lower levels need another feature, I will certainly plan for it!
I like this game very much! I hope to see more updates like this in the future but about item sorting we really need that one in the game

QoL Suggestion for the shop merchant: a button to sell every equipment (weapon, helmet, gear) which is neither locked or equipped at once to safe some time.

Vender objetos que no estén bloqueados, lo que quisiera más aparte de algo que ya hay seria poder reservar los niveles o la “exp” para obtener más niveles o almenos gastarlos en algo como fuerza? Vida? O en subir el daño sea temporalmente pero que haga MUCHO y mucho es bastante la diferencia de poder para matar mobs, incluso boss, considero que también podría aplicarse a una serie q conozco “overlord” y creo que esa habilidad de ainz de poder regresar a la vida con una orbe roja y que gaste sus niveles estaría bastante buena esa mecánica incluida en one bit adventure. Además también quiero un personaje acuático con habilidades por ese estilo jajaja sabes? De la nada, nuevo hechizo “tornado de tiburones” (invocar).. Pero eso muchas gracias Jonathan concepciones por todo el trabajo espero lo de la mano se recupere. <3 y espero con ansias esa mazmorra bifurcada parece interesante ese árbol.

I’ve been playing this game since the first year, and I’ve loved every update since. (Accidentally lost my data a few times lol) but keep up the good work!
About the custom cards… Will be there (in the future, because I dont want to hurry the process) some skin dealer/ monthly skin card design, just as the skins by themselves, because that would be a high step forward, I want you to take your time and go to your own rithm, the future seems very promising 🙂 .
Certainly depends on the amount of cards that are created. For now, I want to say at least 14 cards will be added in this big update.

One thing that I think would be really cool, is being able to reset your iridium upgrades. There’s one or two upgrades I accidentally upgraded, and there’s no way to get it back now. My wisdom is level 93, so even with double xp it can take a little bit to level up.

i am so hyped for this next update; new dungeon, new pathfinding system AND new crossroad thing seems to be sooo good. Also i would like to give suggestion for necromancer (no rush tho, because this update gonna be huge so take your time and take car of your hand 🙂 hope it is better [learned from your yt channel]) so my fav class is necromancer but regardless of proffession you summon allies (i mean thats the concept of necromancer after all) but firstly the allies cant follow you properly, but this bug will be solved in this update as i see the A* pathfinding, but there is this thing annoys me a bit which is: lets assume you have summoned a zombie and it is 4 tiles away from you and 5 tiles away from the enemy, when you “spacebar” or wait a turn, the ally will come closer to you instead of going for attacking the enemy. SO I would suggest, if there is a toogle button for that to command your necro allies to go for the enemy regardless of the distance of your character, or come to near you again regardless of the enemy distance, or act natural as it now, it would be SOOOO gooodd, i have a proffession 5 hardcore necro and it would be great quality of life update for necromancer players, thx for reading this far, enjoying your game from the very beggining

Nice to see that things are only getting more ambitious with Onebit! Can’t wait to experience Fork in the Road for myself, although am a lil sad about the postponement of Archer profession #2, but I’ll happily accept this update once it’s ready instead. All this sounds awesome, am so looking forward to playing it. Thx Onebit team.
