It’s been a crazy weekend for OneBit as we showcased at Midwest Gaming Classic with tons of praises and exciting features for the future! A lot of game changing decisions have been happening and it is time we start to bring things back to reality. The roadmap for this year will change due to unforeseen events (like a new baby coming soon :D). With such events, I need to kick things into high gear and focus solely on OneBit Adventure, but with a brand new perspective. In comes a new chaotic adventure which will roll into open beta soon and a sneak at the next major update planned.
New Chaotic Adventure Mode
If you haven’t checked out the YouTube shorts, watch it! I’ve made a lot of experiments to see how much crazy things can happen in OneBit and now you can relive those videos with this new mode. Chaotic Adventure is a separate game mode that saves separately from your normal adventurers. This is solely for the sake of challenge, but can be extremely rewarding for xp and equipment with modifiers such as 1 hp mode, every object is an enemy, enemies moving every 0.15 seconds, and more! I wanted ways to make social media clips and in doing so, I’ve managed to make some modular components so you can mix multiple modifiers together and see what chaos you can survive in. This new mode will be free to play in open beta, and will cost Dark Matter if you want to combine more than 1 mod when it does release. For those who are VIP, you will gain reduced cost depending on VIP level so you can enjoy the benefits that is more chaotic adventures at a cheaper cost.
Daily Quests FINALLY During Adventure
I know, I kept pushing this feature aside for the longest. It was the most simplest quality of life change which is allowing you to claim daily quests without leaving to the main menu, but I also have more in store for this feature. Hardcore characters can claim them, but it will still go to their global stash. No more going back and forth between main menu and adventures for claiming daily quests 😀
Dedicated Attack Button
What if you could just tap the attack button and you know, attack the closest thing? Now, Dpad users can! It will appear when you are able to attack and works with ranged attacks too. This is a small barrier for new players, but was a major deal when I did showcase this new feature at Midwest Gaming Classic.
Hiding Quick Slots
While Quick Slots is still in the game, it will hide when you have no quick slots added. This was a huge confusion as players would tap it thinking it was an inventory bag. Will have to work on a tutorial for when you do add an item to it for the first time, but for now, don’t panic! Just add an item to quick slot via inventory or equipment and it will appear.
Gold Detection Revamp
This was also another confusion where players were not tapping the meter that had the most because it was yellow. Of course, they only went for the green and while I thought yellow = gold, yellow generally means its mid so yeah. It’s going to be called Highlight Max Upgrade from now on.
Reduced Overworld Chunk
There are some big lag spikes because of loading/unloading chunks. This is getting trimmed down for the time being until I can resolve issues that comes from loading too much at once. Expect some chunks to be missing from queue.
Major Bug Fixed
Sell All in the shop was bugged. It had the potential to sell your equipped weapon and I am truly sorry for taking so long to fix. This mistake will eventually come with a promo code, but I want to make sure the update is out publicly before doing so.
Roadmap Changes
Rogue Together has been rough to progress and I am going to be honest. I truly believe I can’t live up to the expectation that would come with a multiplayer sequel; HOWEVER, a brand new idea came about because of this realization. Throughout the past few months, I’ve been working on a database code for a training app and realized I could use this knowledge to make a Guild system in OneBit Adventure. This creates a way to have multiplayer without being a realtime multiplayer. Imagine creating/joining a guild and together, you complete challenges and quests with the goal of competing against other guilds in a special Rankings. During your adventure, you may come across a boss and one of your guild members joins to help you out much like how Shintaro acts where the stats and character skin are there without the need for live multiplayer. Or maybe you visit the crossroads and your guild members are there chilling with a message to motivate you. These ideas gave me confidence I feel I can achieve it because of my previous knowledge of databases which is how the guild system would work. You will be able to have that connection with others and still be able to play OneBit with all of its single player mechanics. That’s pretty much all I have for now. Sad reality being I have more debt incoming so I need to ramp up the ideas if I want to remain full-time on OneBit Adventure. I am hoping for the best with Chaotic Adventure and the future Guild update. I hope to provide the joy for many years to come and look forward to hearing what you think about this Guild system coming to OneBit Adventure.
