New Chaotic Adventure Update Coming Soon to Open Beta

It’s been a crazy weekend for OneBit as we showcased at Midwest Gaming Classic with tons of praises and exciting features for the future! A lot of game changing decisions have been happening and it is time we start to bring things back to reality. The roadmap for this year will change due to unforeseen events (like a new baby coming soon :D). With such events, I need to kick things into high gear and focus solely on OneBit Adventure, but with a brand new perspective. In comes a new chaotic adventure which will roll into open beta soon and a sneak at the next major update planned.

New Chaotic Adventure Mode

If you haven’t checked out the YouTube shorts, watch it! I’ve made a lot of experiments to see how much crazy things can happen in OneBit and now you can relive those videos with this new mode. Chaotic Adventure is a separate game mode that saves separately from your normal adventurers. This is solely for the sake of challenge, but can be extremely rewarding for xp and equipment with modifiers such as 1 hp mode, every object is an enemy, enemies moving every 0.15 seconds, and more! I wanted ways to make social media clips and in doing so, I’ve managed to make some modular components so you can mix multiple modifiers together and see what chaos you can survive in. This new mode will be free to play in open beta, and will cost Dark Matter if you want to combine more than 1 mod when it does release. For those who are VIP, you will gain reduced cost depending on VIP level so you can enjoy the benefits that is more chaotic adventures at a cheaper cost.

Daily Quests FINALLY During Adventure

I know, I kept pushing this feature aside for the longest. It was the most simplest quality of life change which is allowing you to claim daily quests without leaving to the main menu, but I also have more in store for this feature. Hardcore characters can claim them, but it will still go to their global stash. No more going back and forth between main menu and adventures for claiming daily quests 😀

Dedicated Attack Button

What if you could just tap the attack button and you know, attack the closest thing? Now, Dpad users can! It will appear when you are able to attack and works with ranged attacks too. This is a small barrier for new players, but was a major deal when I did showcase this new feature at Midwest Gaming Classic.

Hiding Quick Slots

While Quick Slots is still in the game, it will hide when you have no quick slots added. This was a huge confusion as players would tap it thinking it was an inventory bag. Will have to work on a tutorial for when you do add an item to it for the first time, but for now, don’t panic! Just add an item to quick slot via inventory or equipment and it will appear.

Gold Detection Revamp

This was also another confusion where players were not tapping the meter that had the most because it was yellow. Of course, they only went for the green and while I thought yellow = gold, yellow generally means its mid so yeah. It’s going to be called Highlight Max Upgrade from now on.

Reduced Overworld Chunk

There are some big lag spikes because of loading/unloading chunks. This is getting trimmed down for the time being until I can resolve issues that comes from loading too much at once. Expect some chunks to be missing from queue.

Major Bug Fixed

Sell All in the shop was bugged. It had the potential to sell your equipped weapon and I am truly sorry for taking so long to fix. This mistake will eventually come with a promo code, but I want to make sure the update is out publicly before doing so.

Roadmap Changes

Rogue Together has been rough to progress and I am going to be honest. I truly believe I can’t live up to the expectation that would come with a multiplayer sequel; HOWEVER, a brand new idea came about because of this realization. Throughout the past few months, I’ve been working on a database code for a training app and realized I could use this knowledge to make a Guild system in OneBit Adventure. This creates a way to have multiplayer without being a realtime multiplayer. Imagine creating/joining a guild and together, you complete challenges and quests with the goal of competing against other guilds in a special Rankings. During your adventure, you may come across a boss and one of your guild members joins to help you out much like how Shintaro acts where the stats and character skin are there without the need for live multiplayer. Or maybe you visit the crossroads and your guild members are there chilling with a message to motivate you. These ideas gave me confidence I feel I can achieve it because of my previous knowledge of databases which is how the guild system would work. You will be able to have that connection with others and still be able to play OneBit with all of its single player mechanics. That’s pretty much all I have for now. Sad reality being I have more debt incoming so I need to ramp up the ideas if I want to remain full-time on OneBit Adventure. I am hoping for the best with Chaotic Adventure and the future Guild update. I hope to provide the joy for many years to come and look forward to hearing what you think about this Guild system coming to OneBit Adventure.

  1. We’re getting guilds?? That’s such a beautiful surprise, this update sounds amazing! Can’t wait to see it live

  2. First of all, congratulations on the new baby on the way.

Second, these are quite some nice changes and crucial fixes, which makes the game one step better than the previous update.

Third, I have plenty of concerns and questions regarding the “Chaotic Adventure (CA)” mode

    1. Since Classic and Hardcore have separate resources for coins, diamonds, and keys, where will CA mode get dark matter resources? Will it be from the classic/global stash, or from the hardcore stash?

    2. Assuming it gets hardcore resources from hardcore characters (I mainly and solely play Hardcore Mode), will the character get permadeaths? I’m hoping it doesn’t, since it does suck if you lose your prestige level 5 character on CA mode.

    3. As a follow-up to the second question, my concern along the way is achieving “Mortal Curiosity” on hardmode. As a suggestion along the way, I hope achievements like “Mortal Curiosity” can only be achieved in Classic Mode, and that death by this achievement doesn’t count towards the total death count in our own statistics so it doesn’t look like we’re messing up our profile stats on purpose (My apologies, as I am a perfectionist with OCD who doesn’t want to see a 1 in Total Deaths and Permadeaths, which holds me back from getting the secret character).

    4. Assuming that CA mode gets dark matter resources from classic/global stash, again, as a sole hardcore mode player, can we transfer dark matter obtained from hardcore to classic like we do in coins, diamonds, and keys?

    5. Speaking of bugs, I’m not sure if it’s a bug or a “feature”, but I noticed while I was playing Hardcore mode and chose the Reapers path in crossroads (All enemies are reapers, +3% chance chests contain gold equipment), I noticed that whenever reapers hit me, the death counter DOES NOT RESET, so not only do I keep taking 8 points of damage, my death counter keeps going down.

    6. I really really love the new music, but I have been playing this game since 2019-2020. I was thinking if we can put the old overworld music in the “Legacy Skin” below the “Defualt Skin”, so it heals the inner nostalgia of veteran Onebit Adventure players like me and gives a nice introduction to the music mixer available at higher VIP levels.

    7. In line with music, I do hope we also get a “jukebox” function in the shop so we can listen to the several music of the game. Furthermore, there’s a YouTube and/or Spotify link below the jukebox menu that leads us to the music artists’ official channels as a means of supporting them.

    8. The way I see it, we’re looking for new ways to use surplus dark matter, most especially since we can’t revive in hardcore with it anyway. These are just some of the ways I think can we can repurpose dark matter:

    – Crafting material for an item that enables Chaotic Death Notice (CDN, all enemies are bosses) whenever we want (via Stewpot)

    – Crafting material for other items like Altering Eyes, Treasure Maps, etc. (via Stewpot)

    – Can be exchanged for a flat amount of diamonds, coins, keys, pearls for purchasing pets etc.

    – Can be used to revive an NPC of choice per dark matter (I.e. Christopher III, The Gorilla, The Frog Bard etc.) in case you failed to save them or accidentally put them in harm’s way (like tentacles on Morgana etc.)

    – Can be used to purchase runes for weapons (a new merchant NPC)

    – Can be used as a substitute/alternative cost for Respec, both stats and profession via the edit character menu

    – Can be used as a weapon (concept of ranged attacks) by tapping an enemy to damage it

    – Can be used to teleport within the chunk (by tapping an open tile/space without enemies/obstacles on it)

    – Can be used to purchase temporary buffs from other classes that last until the current Adventure ends (I.e. Coin Boost, Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Double Strike) (which requires a new merchant NPC)

    – Can be used to create and join guilds (while the first one is free, subsequent creation and joining of guilds require dark matter that connects adventurers across dimensions)

    – Can be used as an item and/or coin magnet for X amount of steps (similar to how Haste works)

    – Can be used to lower skill cooldowns/as a Crafting material for an item that grants haste and/or skill cooldown reductions (via Stewpot)

    – Can be used to summon certain unlocked NPCs whenever we want, making them appear in the next chunk, similar to how Altering Eye works ( i.e. summoning the merchant in case we have a full inventory so nothing goes to waste, or summoning the Forger so we can merge multiple equipment of the same kind/type)

    – Can be used to spawn a specific boss of our choice whenever we want, making them appear in the next chunk, similar to the Altering Eye usage

    – Can be used to redo a quest of our choice, in case we failed to accomplish it (I.e. Frog Bard dies in escort quest, not enough apples for the snail etc.)

    – Can be used to spawn a campfire on the next chunk whenever we want

    – Can be used as a substitute to refresh ascension quests for wisdom EXP and Iridium

Anyway, I know that many of these suggestions are bad/don’t make sense, but I’m confident that at least a few of them can get through and be considered for the next new updates.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and reconsidering these suggestions!

  3. Are new monthly skins paused atm? It’s understandable that you’re quite busy atm and are likely prioritizing time and resources towards other things, just feels like it’s been a hot minute since any new ones have dropped.

Also – any new things to maybe look forward to in regards to cards? Level maxxed my Gunslinger Archer, started the same for my vanilla Enigma but gave up midway through once reached gold border.

Also… what’s happening with the next community dungeon? (the elf/forest whatever one it was)

Could we also perhaps get a toggle to hide/disable adventure quests or something? I keep getting distracted each time it resets when I’d been focusing on gaining steps, I get sidetracked and prematurely lose a life as I am climbing back up to 60k. I dunno, something that pauses the reset timer would be nice… whilst keeping Acension accessible.

And finally – why are their no Elites in the Sea Dungeon? Just realized that that was not a thing the other day…

Probs should skim through the most recent streams to maybe find answers. Mostly just curious about these things that’s all.
